Graf Von Faber Castell Perfect Pencil

The Perfect Pencil

I have spent the last few months being completely overwhelmed by technology having installed in our office a new central server, phone system and video conferencing suite, plus having switched telecom providers .

At the moment the last thing I want to see is another wretched computer! I thought it would be nice to have a tech break and return to the simplicity of pencil and paper – and I must confess I’m quite enjoying it. This is, of course, a gadget column though and if you are going to use a pencil – you may as well get a good one and have some style and panache!

After a bit of research I discovered the Faber-Castell Perfect Pencil. In its simplest form it appears similar to a pen lid, with a pencil sharpener artfully hidden inside. When not in use the pointy end of the pencil is safely tucked away and when in use the cap can be used to extend the pencil and improve its balance in the hand. These basic models can be found (although rare!) in the $50 range.

If you’re a fan of luxury writing implements there is a Graf Von Faber-Castell edition which is Platinum plated and is a beautiful writing instrument. In Australia they are normally almost $500 and very hard to come by, but can be ordered from Home Couture for $126.50 Australian Dollars.
